NotesThis is a somewhat obvious list of notable historical and archeological sites on the Oregon Coast. No surprises here. The shell middens at the mouth of the Yachats River are described, including their condition in the late 1970s. These deposits accreted from shellfish use by the Alsea Indians, and later by the Coos and Lower Umpqua (Kalawatset) peoples interned at Yachats when it was part of the Coast Reservation.
