NotesThe lovely gooseneck barnacle is edible. In Spain, it is a delicacy that has been over-cherished and over-harvested, so much so that Spanish restauranteurs have put out a call for gooseneck barnacles around the world. Add in the fascination of Oregonians with “weird foods,” and wild foraging and you have increasing harvesting without any regulation. Natural resource managers need to know more about the biology of goosenecks, and more about the effects of harvesting. This admirable Honors Bachelor thesis helps to fill this gap.
