NotesThe purpose of the study was to map offshore kelp beds using infrared photographic techniques. The added benefit is these lovely aerial photographs. This one features the Yachats River and much of the immediate Yachats area. The image covers the offshore area and about a half-mile inland. Other pictures of nearby coastline are available under the heading “Yachats to Cape Perpetua.” “The specifications of the photos are as follows: vertical photography; scale = 1:7200; 2443 Color-infrared film; 9x9 format; 60% overlap of all photos for stereo modeling capability; real-world coverage = 5400 square feet; the shoreline runs through the center of most photos providing approximately one half mile of inland coverage; photographed over 4 days during May and June, 1993 at minus or zero tide.”
